What is Botox?

A Game Changer in Anti-aging

How does Botox work?

At La Chelé, your Botox journey begins with a comprehensive consultation.

Our expert aesthetic specialists will meticulously assess your facial anatomy and discuss your desired outcomes. We prioritize a personalized approach, ensuring your treatment plan aligns seamlessly with your unique needs.

Botox targets one of the underlying causes of wrinkles—repeated muscle movements. Facial expressions such as squinting, smiling, or frowning can lead to the formation of wrinkles. Temporarily immobilizing the muscle from within allows your skin to heal over time. With regular Botox treatments, your skin will become consistently smoother.

Following your treatment, you may notice initial results within a few days, with the full effects becoming visible within one to two weeks. The duration of results varies, but generally, the effects of Botox last for several months, providing a sustained, refreshed appearance.

What conditions does Botox address?

Botox at La Chelé offers a refined solution for a range of dynamic wrinkles and facial expressions. Our skilled aesthetic specialists utilize Botox to address:

  • Forehead Lines: Softening the horizontal lines that appear with brow movement.
  • Glabellar Lines: Smoothing the vertical "frown lines" between the eyebrows.
  • Crow's Feet: Diminishing the fine lines that radiate from the corners of the eyes.
  • Bunny Lines: Reducing the wrinkles that appear on the sides of the nose.
  • Lip Lines: Minimizing the vertical lines that can appear above the upper lip.
  • Marionette Lines: Softening the lines that extend from the corners of the mouth to the chin.
  • Platysmal Bands - FDA approved for treating vertical bands of the neck for a smoother contours

Beyond these common concerns, our specialists also employ advanced Botox techniques for subtle facial contouring, including jawline slimming and neck rejuvenation.

Botox Beyond the Basics

What are the benefits of Botox?

Botox injections offer a variety of benefits, both cosmetic and medical. Here's a summary:

Reduces Wrinkles and Fine Lines

Botox is primarily known for smoothing dynamic wrinkles, such as frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet. It relaxes the muscles that cause these wrinkles, resulting in a more youthful appearance.

Improves Skin Texture and Tone

Botox can improve skin texture by reducing the visibility of enlarged pores and creating a smoother appearance. It can also even out skin tone by improving circulation and promoting skin regeneration.

Slims the Jawline

Injections into the masseter muscles (responsible for chewing) can create a slimmer, more contoured jawline. This is sometimes referred to as "masseter reduction."

Prevents Future Wrinkles

By limiting muscle movement, Botox can prevent new lines from forming over time. Starting Botox early can serve as a preventative measure.

Neck Rejuvenation

Botox can address signs of aging in the neck, reducing horizontal lines and "bands," and improving the appearance of "turkey neck" and sagging.

Botox Frequently Asked Questions

The treatment itself takes less than 10 minutes. This minimally invasive procedure is relatively painless and yields little to no downtime.

Botox is best used in the upper one-third of the face including between the brows, forehead and around the eyes. Botox is strategically placed to relax targeted muscles to allow for the skin to heal over time.

Botox begins to take effect between 5-7 days, although you may notice subtle changes within 24 to 48 hours. Your results will peak at two weeks post-injection and gradually fade over the following 3-4 months. Botox is FDA-approved to last up to 4 months. For optimal results, we typically recommend treatments every 12-16 weeks.

Botox is best used when placed in muscles in the upper ⅓ of the face. Botox can be used in specific muscles in the lower face as well, depending on your aesthetic goals.

Pricing varies from patient to patient and is based on muscle strength and desired aesthetic results. It’s recommended to schedule a complimentary consultation for a thorough assessment and accurate pricing.

Repeated muscle movements (frowning, raising of the brows, etc.) are one of the key contributors of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox is a neurotoxin, temporarily relaxing specific muscles on the face to allow for the skin to heal over time.

Although La Chele does not specifically treat migraines with Botox, Botox injections in the upper ⅓ of the face have been shown to decrease severity and frequency of headaches. TMJ/jaw pain can also contribute to migraines. Botox and other neurotoxins can be used to treat TMJ/jaw pain to improve migraines.

Botox can be used to prevent the formation or worsening of fine lines and wrinkles in the upper ⅓ of the face by inhibiting certain muscle movements such as frowning.

Creasing under the eye can be attributed to muscle movement and/or volume loss in the area. If the creasing is due to muscle movement, very small amounts can be placed under the eye to soften the appearance of creasing when smiling. A La Chele provider can evaluate you to see if Botox is the appropriate treatment.

To preserve your results from neurotoxin treatments, it’s essential to maintain a skincare routine with medical-grade products such as our Line Free Serum, Moisture 150 and, of course, SPF.
